Series, 1-0, Wings

Game two, 4-2 Wings. Series 2-0 Wings. Gooooo Wings.

Game 3, Preds 5, Wings 2. Series 2-1 Wings. Gotta start Ozzie. Haseks stinks.

Last year Nashville was in the same situation. Forced game 7 i believe. Still lost the series though.

Hasek has sucked for years. OZZIE OZZIE.  Wish we had Ken Dryden in his prime.

Hasek should retire and collect coins.

Preds 3, Wings 2. Series tied at 2 games apiece. Ozzie has to get the start thru the rest of the playoffs as Hasek gives up 2 goals in 32 seconds. Hasek must sit.

Sad state of affairs in hockeytown for sure. Discounted red wings playoff tickets anyoneone :)?

Game 5, Wings 2, Preds 1. Series 3-2 Wings.
After leading the entire game 1-0 (Ellis played out of his mind stopping 52 of 54 shots) the Preds score with 44 seconds left to tie it and send it into OT ::). 1:48 into the OT, Franzen scores the winner on a breakaway :hello2:. Wheeew. Playoff hockey, not for the squeemish.

Game was intense. Good hockey. Talk about gut feeling on the tieing goal. Thought for a second hurry up and lose the playoffs wings. Bad Attitude on my part and I was punished. Now it's back to 100% support and the winning attitude.

Wings take game six 3-0, (shutout for Ozzie) along with the series 4 games to 2. Now onward to either Colorado or Calgary, (to be determined). Lidstrom scored on a blooper shot from center ice to open the scoring.

Nice going on this reporting Czar. Ozzie stays and wings keep going.

Opponent to be determined tonight, (tuesday). If Calgary beats San Jose then we play the Flames. If San Jose beats Calgary, we play the Avalance. I would expect either series to begin saturday but as far as I know they have not been scheduled.

Second round game 1, Wings 4-3 over the Avalance. Exciting game as Ozzie makes the save of the game with 9 seconds left to preserve the win. Colorado made it a game coming back after the Wings score 4 straight goals. Next game is saturday.

Sure was a game saving save. Came out and cut the angle. That could well be the save of the series and a colorado cruncher.

Red Wings totally dominate game 2 vs Colorado with a final score of 5-1. Johan Franzen scores a hattrick and Ozzie looks stellar in the win. Series 2-0 Wings. Next game monday 10 pm in Colorado.

The Red Wings take a commanding 3-0 series lead as the eurotwins combine for 3 goals and 5 points to get a hard fought 4-3 win. Johan Franzen gets them on the board with his team leading 8th goal of the playoffs and Ozzie stands tall to stop the relentless barrage from the desperate Avalance. Get out the brooms as this series will be swept by the mighty Wings.

I watched 2 periods and the gas tank went to empty. Johan leads everyone in the playoffs. If they sweep they will get a good rest going into the conferance final. Ya Baby!!!!

The Red Wings got out the broom to sweep Colorado with a dominating 8-2 victory in the conference semi`s. Johan Franzen scored his 2nd hat trick of the series therefore breaking a long standing franchise record by Gordie Howe for most goals in a series with 9. Franzen also set the franchise benchmark for most goals in the playoffs with 11. He also broke Howes franchise record for game winning goals, (6) in one month back in march. Zetterberg had 2 goals and 2 helpers, Samuelsson also had 2 goals and Homer had 1. On now to the conference finals where more than likely our opponent will be Dallas who holds a 3-1 series lead over the Sharks of SanJose. They next play tonight.

8-2 is a spanking. But man were they on fire. They were buzzing like bees on a hive. Those games are rare so I'm glad I stayed up to watch it.
Penalties didn't help the Aves.

Dude, i have never seen a more organized, well oiled machine. The execution was like clockwork. What a royal spanking for the Avalosers.

The Red Wings take game 1 of the Western Conference finals with a score of 4-1. Excluding the last 5 minutes of period 2, the Wings controlled the play all night. Kronwell continues to crush the opponent with solid body checks and everyone on the team is playing well. They didn`t look rusty at all after the week layoff after sweeping the last series. Next game is saturday evening at 7:00 pm on VS and CBC.

If they stay healthy we own a cup. Can't wait.  One thing.

Just a shame that it's on VS's because alot of people don't have that channel. Just a shame.

The Red wings took a 2-0 series lead with a hard fought 2-1 win that was full of the physical play that makes playoff hockey so great. Marty Turco kept the game close as the Wings were relentless in their pressure. Frustration is setting in for the Stars as they have yet to figure out the Red Wings. A cheap shot on Ozzie at the end of the game should make for some fireworks the next game which moves to Dallas.

Wings played by the books in the 3rd. The cheap shot on Ozz will be reviewed by the NHL. The guy better stay out of the next game or Mac will beat his A$$.

Two sweeps in a row would be nice.

No suspension given, only fines to both Rebiero and Osgood. Ozzie did butt end him in the face and really deserves an acadamy award for his acting LOL. Steve Ott also was fined for punching Draper in the head after losing a late game faceoff.  Don`t miss tonights game as it promises to be a good one. 8 pm on VS.

Now keep a eye on Dallas's Goalie. If he hits Holms in the back of the head again another fine is in order. Might see a bench clearing brawl.

The Red Wings take a commanding 3-0 series lead against the Stars of Dallas as Pavel Datsyuk scores his first career hat trick,  Zetterberg scores a short handed goal and has 2 helpers to go along with it to defeat the Stars 5-2. The Red Wings set a franchise record by winning 9 straight playoff games and Ozzie sets a franchise record for same. They better hide all the brooms in Dallas as the Wings will need one come the next game. Take a good look at this, Wings fans as it`s coming back to Hockeytown.

Wings started off slow and the Stars were on fire the first period but the Wings turned it on and beat them up pretty bad. Fantastic Game.!!!!!

Dallas must be feeling pretty low as everything fell apart for them.

No broom needed for the Wings as the Stars avoid being ousted from the conference finals by beating the Red Wings 3-1. Unfortunatly we have to play against the refs as a good goal by Datsyuk was waved off with the explaination that Homer was in the crease. Although not a reviewable play, the replay clearly shows Holmstom not in the crease at all. Then with Ericson clearly in the crease with both his body and skates, his goal was allowed. What are they looking at? Gotta wonder. Dallas did outplay the Red Wings though and Turco was outstanding. Also, where were the refs when Steve Ott was mauling Homer at the end of the game? That game was the Wings against the Stars and the refs. Zetterberg did score and is on a tear as he notched his 7th goal in his last 8 playoff games giving him 10 during the playoffs. They take the series back home to the Joe for a saturday afternoon game with coverage starting at 1:30 on NBC

For once I agree with czar on the two goals in question.
Talk about a couple of wrong calls. But hey that's hockey. Seemed like the refs took the goal away to make up for the one when homer was in the crease game before and it counted.

If Holmstrom was in the crease like the ref says he was then why didn't he get a penalty for obstruction?

The Dallas Stars have made a series out of once what was a one sided affair with a 2-1 win over the Red Wings. To their credit they are playing as a team on a mission with Marty Turco standing tall along with their defensive corps. The series now goes back to Dallas with the Red Wings having a 3-2 edge in the conference finals. Look for Johan (the mule) Franzen to be back in the lineup for game 6 monday evening, (just my opinion) to add that extra presence in front of Turco. The Wings have played well the last 2 games but must get more pressure in front of the net. Ozzie has been great and needs to keep up the good work in goal. My opinion is this series goes 7 games with the Wings prevailing. Fingers are crossed. GO WINGS. 

Wings played terrible. Bad passes, lost pucks, they seem to lack a spark needed for a cup. Turnovers lost the game. Well at least we get another game.Lookin like it's going to seven.

The Red Wings completed the elimination of the Dallas Stars to bring the Clarence Campbell Trophy home for winning the western conference championship . The Wings started the game on fire and after 2 periods held a 4-0 scoring advantage. Dallas attempted a comback by scoring 1 in the 3rd but couldn`t muster any more. The Wings held them at bay setting up a final with the red hot Pittsburg Penquins for the chance to bring Lord Stanleys sacred chalice back to the motor city. First game is on saturday at 8 pm. VS and CBC.GO WINGS

Penguins did not have that many formidable opponents in their conference. Either way, should be a great series.

Game one of the Stanley Cup finals is in the history books and the series starts out well for the Red Wings. They come out as 4-0 winners with 2 goals by Sammulsson and 1 each by Cleary, (shorthanded) and Zetterberg. One goal by Lidstom was disallowed on a bad call by the referee saying Holmstrom interfered with Marc Andre Fluery. Osgood was in great form making some key saves. Great game, lots of hitting and the Joe was rocki`n. Game two comes monday evening on VS and CBC.

What a great game, for sure czar!

Kronwell is a hitting machine. He just slams the quins.

The Mayor of Pittsburgh wanted to make a bet with The Kwamster regarding use of the "Hockeytown" name, but it is not The Kwamster's to bet.  Ilitch owns it and it is a registered trademark. Put that in your phone and text that, Kwame.

The Red Wings put a major roadblock in the way of the Penquins quest for the Stanley Cup by beating them handily in game two of the finals with their 2nd consecutive shut out. The final score was 3-0. Sid the kid and Genie Malkin were once again held at bay as the Wings stifled them at every turn. The Mule returned and looked fresh as a daisy as he crowded Marc Andre Fluery and was the target of a few cheap shots by the frustrated Penquins. The frustration set in even more as the minutes wound down in the third and even Pavel Datsyuk got into a few scrums sticking up for his team mates. Gary Roberts was inserted into the line up fogame 2 and his punch to the head of Franzen exemplifies the frustration setting in for the pens. Games 3 and 4 go  to Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh where the Penquins haven`t lost a game for over 3 months. That is until the Wings come to town. Look for a better Penquin team at home but not good enough for the mighty Red Wings.

Yes another rock solid performace from hour hero's. I'm putting a broom out front along with the 6 foot cup we made, touched off with a hockey stick to complete the display. Picture to follow shortly.

Wings fans can put their brooms away. There will be no sweep in this series as Pittsburg brings new life to their fans with a 3-2 victory in game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals. The victory gives the Pens 17 straight home wins. Wings hold a 2-1 edge in games.  The first 10 minutes of the game looked as if the Wings would continue the thrashing they have been handing the opposing team but Sidney Crosby`s first of 2  goals brought the Penquins to life. The Red Wings made a hard charge with Samulsson and Franzen scoring to narrow the gap at 3-2 but that`s how this game would end. Great game,even on the losing side. Playoff hockey, not for the nervous person. Game 4 takes place saturday night on NBC and CBC.

I sure was on the edge of my seat. What a game! Pistons lost as well. That was also a nailbiter at the end.

Now we get to win the cup at home. The back and forth (mostly forth) action was tremedous. Action at full power it can't get any better.

Has anybody noticed when crossby scored that goal, they had too many man on the ice?

The Red Wings put another nail in the coffin of the Pittsburg Penquins saturday evening with a thrilling 2-1 victory in the Stanley Cup finals. After giving up a power play goal early in the 1st period the Wings came back on Nick Lidstoms goal to even it up. There the score stood until 2:36 of the 3rd period when Jiri Hudler scored on a backhand to give the Redwings the edge. A stellar performance by Ozzie and a fantastic penalty kill by Zetterberg while the Pens had a 2 man advantage sealed the victory. The loss put an end to a 17 game home winning streak for the Penquins. The Redwings now take it back to Joe Lous Arena with a chance to win the franchise its 11th Stanley Cup and a chance to drink champagne from Lord Stanley`s sacred chalice. Monday evening it`s done.

 

quins have to be feeling low. Monday I'll be waving this on 11 mile. The cup my wife made as a display in front of our house.

Don't forget to record the game as it certainly will be a collectors item.

The Penquins won 17 home games in a row and have not lost since february 24th. Until last night that is.

34.3 seconds. That`s how far away hoisting the holy grail was. It was out of the case, champagne was ready in the locker room and the cigars were ready to be lit. With 34.3 seconds left in regulation the team that won`t go away forces a game 6 in their building. After giving up the first 2 goals the Redwings fought back with 3 unanswered goals, one each by Helms, Datsyuk and Rafalski to take the lead. With their goalie pulled for an extra attacker the Penquins tied it up to force sudden death overtime. The score remained the same after 2 overtimes in spite of some fantastic pressure and chances by both teams. With Jiri Hudler off for 4 minutes for an errant high sticking call, Peter Sykora pots the game winner at 9:53 of the 3rd overtime. You surely could have heard me screaming all the way at your house. I`ve said it before, Playoff hockey, not for a nervous person. Next game is in Pittsburg wednesday night. Wings hold a 3-2 advantage and need to win 1 of 2 games remaining. Win or lose, that was a heck of a game.

The action was tremendous. Can we see it take 7 and wings capture there cup in Overtime? I do....

Penalty calling espedially in the overtime was hoorendous. What a game that was. Kinda hoping for game 7 here at home so we can win the cup here.

HEY HEY HOCKEYTOWN.
The Detroit Redwings quest for the cup was made complete with a 3-2 victory over the hard charging Pittsburg Penquins in game 6 of the finals. What an adreneline filled game that had it all. Hitting, ( Brad Stuarts hit on Sid the kid rocked him), play making, scoring and great goaltending. Goals by Rafalski, Filpula and the game winner by Zetterberg, (off Marc Andre Fluery`s butt). With their goaltender pulled the Pens scored with 87 seconds remaining to make it 3-2. One last charge by the desperate Penquins was thwarted by the save of the game by Osgood. The save was made and the puck squirted mere inches in front of the goal line across the entire crease. All with 3 seconds left. WOW!!! What an end to a fabulous season that had our Wings in first place the entire season. More banners to be raised and hardware to cherish. Presidents Cup, Conn Smyth trophy, (a well deserved Zetterberg) and the most heralded championship in all of sport. THE STANLEY CUP!!! The celebration continues back home in Detroit with the parade downtown on friday at 11 am. Thanks for the great season , enjoy the summer Redwings. You deserve it. I`m off to purchase my locker room hat and locker room T-shirt.
