Title: DR Report 4/27/08 Post by: Zib on April 27, 2008, 08:16:02 pm It was a mad house on the river this morning. The Ecorse ramp wasn't busy but I'm sure the other ramps were just from all the boats out there.
I think the military was having a officers only walleye tourney out there because we ran into Major A$$holes & General D!ckheads. ;D I lost count of how many times that we almost went overboard because of guys going full speed through a bunch of boats. One guy buzzed us twice & he was a guy from another site that I would have thought he would have known better. I don't see what's so difficult about swinging out to the middle of the river to run up/down to your spot then cut towards shore to make your drift. We (me & Sheephead Hunter) started our first drift a little before 7:00 AM & had to head in at 11:00 AM because I had a family thing to do. :'( In-between all the smallmouth & white bass we managed to land 5 walleye & lost/missed a few others. The walleye were between 17.5" to 23.5" up to 4Lbs. All males. The 3 bigger ones had the bottom of their jaws tore up most likely from eating the gobies hiding near the zebra mussels. There were gobies in their bellies. Here's one that put up the biggest fight. ;D (http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j67/zibjones/IMG_1044.jpg) (http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j67/zibjones/IMG_1046.jpg) (http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j67/zibjones/IMG_1045.jpg) Title: Re: DR Report 4/27/08 Post by: Zib on April 27, 2008, 08:26:34 pm Almost forgot, fish were caught out in front of US Steel, caught most fish in 30 to 40 fow, a few shallower. We started shallow then went deeper as the crowds grew. Most were caught on a 5/8oz wonder bread jig with a smelt Fin-S. The rest were on a green jig 1/2oz to ¾ oz with a fluke baby bass or Gulp finesse worm.

Your a new man since you got that motor. h2o I was a little leery about buying a 4-stroke but so far I'm loving it. :) The amount of driving I did yesterday I only used a gallon of gas. With my old motor I would have burned 3 gallons with the same amount of driving. Only thing I need to do now is pull up the floor in the front part of my boat to retrieve my cell phone. :) I also need to fix the wiring for my trailer lights. Somehow they got tore up. When I got home yesterday I also noticed a large bulge on the left side tire. I'll need to throw my spare on there until I get a new trailer tire. With this new motor I'll be able to make longer runs on the river to spots I've never fished. :)
