Title: Moot Report 5/4/08 Post by: Zib on May 04, 2008, 06:40:46 pm Fished Moot today with my son & friend Rob from just before 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM. With the cold & windy conditions I thought that it would be a slow start. It ended up the complete opposite. It started off a lot better than it ended. The water was stirred up & temps ranged from 50 to 54 according to Rob's sonar unit.
We ended up boating 28 fish with the biggest being 4lbs 4oz. Most smallies were in the 16" to 17" range. My son had a nice pike on that was close to the mid 30's range but broke off at the boat. >:(. Most fish were caught early on & as the wind died down the fishing slowed. It was almost glass out there when we left & the water had cleared up. Most were caught on 3" & 4" grubs in pumpkin & peanut butter & jelly. Most fish were caught on the south/southeast side of the bay. The usual hotspots didn't have too much activity. I think we spotted Rob (Batteryman) out there in his new boat but wasn't sure. He had left early. There were only 3 other boats out there & they were all gone before noon. The water level seemed too have dropped a little since the last time I was out there. I'm planning to hit the canals in the coming weeks for some LM & maybe the mile roads since good reports have been coming from those places. Plus I still have a lot of river fishing to catch up on. ;D Title: Re: Moot Report 5/4/08 Post by: icefishermanmark on May 04, 2008, 08:44:51 pm Sure looks better than working!! The mile roads seem to be the place right now. My friend wnet out there today, and etween three of them they boated 80 smallies. You may want to give it a try.

With the reports of the mile roads and the success i had there last weekend, it didnt take me long to fire up the motor and head across the lake. did ok near the memorial park, then headed over to in front of the 9 mile tower, and ended up catching a dozen or so smallies.
PS I thought the water levels were lower as well. I remember a 3.5 ft spot about 500ft northeast of the bigger island back there, but i idled around and couldnt find it. I guess im glad i was by myself as, i was able to get up on plane easily. 2 weeks ago with 2 riders i had a had time getting up on plane. Sanded the paint off my prop blades.
