There are all kinds of Perch right out in front of Colchester from the 1 mile marker to the helo pad. I would also guess if you took a 150 heading out of Cedar Island for 2 miles the Perch would probably be there. As for Eyes it's still a little early for them they usually start at Holiday Beach West of Colchester and work their way East lures of choice Worm harnesses or Drift rigs both available at Arts Bait & Tackle Colchester Harbor or TNT Tackle 89 Mill St East Kingsville. Ideal speed this time of the year is .9 to 1.2 mph. in 8 to 14'.

The helo pad is a couple miles off shore....As for perch, they are laying eggs in the weed beds and yes, close to the bottom....get yourself some spreaders (pickerel rigs) and some minnows and look for the boats....

The Perch are on the structure or clay flats set your sensitivity as high as it will go and put your bottom zoom on if you have it. Look for grassy looking bottom because if the Perch aren't on the feed heavy you won't even mark them most of the time. On clear days you can see the helo pad from around a mile west of Cedar Island by GPS it's 5.6 miles from Cedar Island accuately closer than Colchester harbor it's about 6.7 miles.
