Had a couple clients from Port Huron drive down to fish the river this morning. I awoke 5 minutes before my alarm went off at 4:45am to the sound of driving rain hitting the roof of my house.I wasn't exactly to take people fishing at that point. Within half an hour it stopped completely. Started at the cow pasture at 6am. Picked up a fish right away. Fished for a bit longer (maybe 20 minutes) and got another. Then nothing. Made a couple moves. Hit the ren cen for a bit. If you like smallmouth, go there. I caught 9 smallmouth in one pass. One of my clients picked up a huge sliver! it was like a little football. Probably weighed a pound and a half. Went back up river to the fountain park and picked up 2 more eyes there in 15 FOW. One of my clients picked up a 30 or so inch muskie (his first ever). And hit a few s**theads. One real fat rockbass! Those fish are really feeding on something. All fish caught had fat bellies. Then we were off to a secret location, for the remaining 4 fish which came in quick order I might add. Our 3 biggest fish of the day came on one drift here. 1, 24 inch male, and 2, 22" males. All in all it was a good day out there. the guys I had out with me had a great time and caught some real nice fish. Our smallest eye was 20" and the biggest 24".
Fish tally for the day.
-8 walleye
-16 smallmouth
-1 sliver bass
-2 sheephead
-1 muskie
-1 rockbass
