Today the bass club I belong to had their C&R tournament. Rules are, you record the lengths of your best 5 smallies and largies, and the most length wins. It was a team tournament. ME and my partner started off in front of Selfridge. He caught a musky and pike real quick and I managed a 17" smallie. Then we decided to try for our 5 largemouth. It was a tough task. We fished a lot of the canals on the north end of the lake and the fish just weren't there. Apparently they were down south. Anyway, it took until noon to get out five largies, no thanks to me. I only caught one, but a good one. Then we went back near Selfridge and immediately started nailing the smallies. When the bite started, they were hitting my jerkbait, and his rattle trap. After about 15 minutes, they would only hit the jerkbait. We probably pulled 20 fish off that spot, with the best five, going 18" 18" 19" 19.5" and 19.5" Just sick numbers!! Soon after that the trolling motor batteries died, and we were out of luck. We wanted to upgrade our largemouth, but it was almost impossible to do it with no trolling motor. Our 10 fish ended up measuring 177 inches. 17.7" average is nothing to be ashamed of. If I would have weighed in, my weight would have been close to 20lbs. I had an 18.5" lrgmouth, 18" smallie, 19" smallie and two 19.5" smallies. I've never caught big fish like that. Awesome day on the water!!

Most fishermen sit at home in the winter, thinking about fishing. Real fishermen go out and do it.

Good job Mark. Seeing these pictures certainly makes up for me not having a partner this morning...
