What besides the obvious can you come up with to save gas and help beat the oil company's up? Not keep cars tuned and air pressure in your tires. Which does help alot.
1. Coast alot 2. Plan multi trips. Say stop at the grocery store as you pass it on another trip. 3. Talk to neighbors and friends and team up for errands. 4. Filling the tank when it's 1/2 full seems to help physiologicaly. Not as much cash is passed. 5. Buy a car that gets 30+mpg. 6. Driving to work is a must but try and keep trips to a min.
What can you come up with to help the consumer save gas?
h2o<--says looking for positive replies, not you venting on hate of the oil companys we know all about that.

The best thing you can do for yourself is SLOW DOWN! I set my cruise control at the speed limit. It makes others mad, but I could care less. The speed limit is there for a reason. By driving the speed limit you save gas, and won't get a ticket. It just makes sense.
Also, try and time the lights on the roads that you frequently travel. Too many times the guy next to me takes off, and speeds ahead of me, yet I meet him at the next red light. If you can time your lights, you can save unnecessary acceleration.
Psychologically I never let the needle get below 3/4 of a tank. That way I'm putting in $20 at a time, not $80.
Car pool. When I go out to St. Clair I try to drive the my boat owners house. A 15 mile drive is much better than a 55 mile drive.

Most fishermen sit at home in the winter, thinking about fishing. Real fishermen go out and do it.
