Stoney Creek Lake 6/21 Report
« on: June 21, 2008, 05:55:44 pm »

I was originally going to LSC to the selfridge launch but at the last minute pulling out the driveway something told me to go to Stoney Creek lake so I went. After launching the boat at 6:15am. and parking the truck and trailer I trimmed the motor down into the water cranked the engine and noticed no water was spraying out the motor from the water pump. I Immediately shut the motor off and realized I would be using the trolling motor for the day.

Started working the shoreline toward Eastwood beach with a devils horse and caught a 3 1/2lb. Lg mouth. Continued out along the dropoff along the under water point from the beach switched to a tube fishing the weeds on the drop and caught a 6lb. Lg mouth bass and had no one with me to take a photo. Then it started to rain and thunder so I ended leaving around 8:00am taking my boat to the repair shop to have the water pump fixed. Should be fixed by next monday or tuesday I hope, so untill then I'm grounded.

An exciting and frustrating day all in one

Check to see if a spider has taken up residence in the return hole happens to me about twice a year a piece of weed eater cord is just right to clean it out. You wouldn't how strong their really fine webs are plus the spider grows a little and can't get out.

As dumb as it sounds, have you seen water coming out before? With some short shaft 2 cycle engines you won't see squat unless fully submerged and even then, its hard to notice unless you are going WOT.

I have a Merc 150 EFI that has 2 thermostats in it. It doesn`t start a stream untill it warms up and the thermostats open up. Good tip on the spider web blocking the stream. It does happen. Make sure the mechanic gives u the old impeller back so u can check the wear.

Yes, A stream of water comes out as soon as the motor starts running
