Tuesday report
« on: July 01, 2008, 09:02:47 pm »

It was a good/troubled day. Started out around Selfridge and worked north had a nice muskie follow. Later in the day I got a little muskie on a crank first one landed this year Yay. Saw another one around 40" cruising did not want to eat my offering of muskie lures. My wife did it again though she is on a roll. First she got a 18" large mouth. The real nice one was a big pike out by grassy. She got it in was 30" long but it had a huge girth and weighed in at 10lbs. It had a couple of sores on its side from lampreys but it was a beautiful fish. Later is when the trouble started. Went to move the boat and so I went to start the engine and I hear the starter motor making a strange sound. Pull the engine cover and the nut that hold the spring on the starter motor is gone and the spring is just sitting there. I found the spring and spring cap but no nut. I decided I will use my 5hp to get in and work on the big engine when I get home. I got about a 1/2 mile on the 5hp then it died. Got it restarted once but it died a couple of minutes later. I took a couple of minutes to cool down because I was about to go crazy. After a third attempt failed to start the 5hp I figured I should just see if I can find the nut for the starter on the big motor. I finally found it and being extra careful reinstalled it as best I could. I figured no way will this work but it did. Got back in and got home to find the nut fell off again. That will not happen again since I took a ratchet and some removable grade lock tight on it. Started it up a few times to test it. I am good to go. Maybe I will see some of you out on Wednesday.

Glad to see ya made it back safely, Al. Looks like Kristy is giving Big Dog a run for her money for fisherwoman of the year.  Giving you a run as well. Nice fish, captain. icon_salut

Glad to hear that the terrorists at the tow/salvage company didn't get any business from ya.  Nice fish as well!
