Spoon Color for Salmon and Trout
Written by Robert G. Brunner Sr.,

Spoon colors for Salmon and Trout

I at one time did a lot of Trout and Salmon fishing..  Most of the time I either trolled or casted spoons.  I found out after several years of study different fish prefered different colored spoons.  Remember No Statement is an absolute when it comes to fishing.  I found out over the years that I did much better for Lake Trout using Brass or Gold plated spoons. By the way thet love Red Eye's.  Another favorite is a brass backed five of diamonds Dardevle.  This spoon works well deep trolled very slowy.  Another of the fish that seemed to prefer gold was the Brown Trout. I'm talking about the lake run Brown's  they are a much different fish then the stream fish.

With King's and Coho I did much better while using silver spoons.  I took several big fish on silver Cleo's.  The silver and blue worked the best most of the time.  Steelhead also seem to like the silver better than the gold.  As I stated before nothing is written in stone about fish as the next one makes a liar out of you.  Check this out and see if you have the same results as I have,  Bob
