Bought this engine a couple of years back. Internally it looked to be a virgin althouhg it is a late 1970's model. On the first crank, recoil gear snapped and that was the end of it. Sat for another 2 years until i found the right parts. Now, with recoil working, I am having this problem. Gas gets all the way up to the filter/membrane and to the carb intake. Even with the needle wide open, its not getting into the carb so the motor doesn't start. If I spray a few drops of choke cleaner or starter fluid into the intake and close the choke, starts on first pull and runs untill the spray is burned out (a few seconds). What do you guys think the problem is? Anyone know someone local who works on these cheap? Is it a stuck float? The needle valve was perefectly clean and it looks like there is no dirt/debree obstructing anything, however, I ave nothad a chance to r&r the motor yet.

Andy, when I had my 6 hp Chrysler to get it running I had to pump the heck out of the fuel line ball. I mean pump like crazy. After doing that it ran fine. It would be great if that`s all it is. Good luck. I opened up the Czarbarge today and it is ready to rock.

Is there a last chance filter in the carb? If not I'd be looking at a stuck float. How about the o-ring gasket where the fuel line hooks to the motor. Maby the carb is sucking air? I just had to change mine. My honda wouldn't idle. sucking air.

I will look into these things, but I bet something is clogged in the carb. H2o told me to blow out the carb from the fuel line input. If no air goes through than we know whats obstructed. Removing the carb in this engine looks like a nightmare, i was hoping not to have to do it ;(
