Okay, finally diagnosed what happened to my engine last year. I believe it can be repaired in full. Any opinions sugestions on the job? Its an evinrude v6 commercial 135 i believe, a relativly common block. I started the powerhead removal process but kinda sorta getting cold feet.
I found shredded parts of #10 in the diagram on the bottom if the pan after the engine seized a couple of times. After seizing, we were able to turn it over backwards to free it up and it ran normal. After a while, seized again. Turned backwards, it ran fine. Upon returning discovered the damage...
I am assuming everything below the cranshaft seal is gone. I.E the retainer ring # 16 either popped or bearing #11 has failed. Possibly damaged #13 fitting and #12 crankhead assembly base....

Glad you have a direction to follow. Just make sure you know everything before you start sinking money into it. Don't want you to have any surprises on this venture.

I picked up a 16 foot sweet 16 tri-hull over the winter for $200. It had a 1971 Evinrude starflite V4 on the back of it. Figured parts or something to play around with. To my surpirse, i got the carbs off, soaked everything in cleaner, new plugs, some other minor things, and what do you know. She runs again. After filling the lower unit with proper gearcase lube (special electric shift crap), she even shifts! It was sold to me as a 75 HP. According to the tag, it is a 100 hp
So here's what I am wondering. If i throw her and controls over to my 20 foot maxum, will 100 ponies be enough to get her on the plane? Currently i have a V6 150 on. Please advise before i waste any more time on the transplant.
Both boats pictures below.

Is that Evinrude a long shaft? What's the max HP rating on the Maxum? That old motor might have it's work cut out for it to push that bigger boat.

Yes, it is a long shaft. I really think the engine that came with that maxum was only a 115 originaly. This evinrude is a repower.

A 120 HP Force is like having a 75 HP Mercury. Force motors are the biggest POS motors ever built. My 35 HP Force get's beat by boats with 15 HP motors.
