My adventure to Reelfoot lake in Lake county Tennessee started with a ring of the alarm @ 2:30 am on Sunday April the 2nd. I had the truck ready with the exception of my clothes and food which I placed in the door way so that I wouldn’t forget them. I had to meet the fellas in Cincy at 6:00 am. An hour and ½ into the drive I realize I forgot my clothes and cooler. To late to turn around. I didn’t want to keep 4 guys waiting. After some quick hello’s we were on our way. All 5 five of us in a van.
After a quick stop at Walmart to get me some clothes we arrived at Reelfoot Resort around 3:00 pm and quickly registered, settled in the cabin and had a look around.
Here we are at the resort and the boats docked at the main lodge.

The crappie action was heating up and we were having a good time and then the weather started turning for the worse. We got off the lake, high winds and rain shortly followed. Then it got very calm and quite.

The lake’s average depth is 5.2 feet with some areas 12 feet. Lots of the cypress stumps are just below the water line. This is what makes the jon boat popular on the lake.

That’s one muddy river. Makes the Ohio look like holy water.

One of the fishermen killed it. It’s either a cottonmouth which is very poisonous or a harmless watersnake.
