Saturday we started up at city marina and did a couple drifts right in front of the Yacht Club, nothing.....shot over States side around Belle Isle, a couple drifts in there and I think that is where Jerry picked up one walleye.....really not too many bites.... headed west for a couple drifts around Morton Terminal....nada....kept going west for a couple drifts around LaSalle, again nada....finally realized why we hadn't gotten any fish, Jerry had a banana in the boat
I told him to get rid of that thing right away....he ate it while heading to Amherstburg, almost as soon as we got there I finally got the SKUNK off me!!!!!! WHOO HOOO a nice 2.5 - 3 pound walleye....Man did that feel good
I had been in a slump the last couple times out on the water so that fish made my day!!!! So I figure it must be true that bananas in the boat ARE bad luck!!! LMAO!!!! Decided to get off the water, the wind was really picking up around 2:00.....headed back to city marina doing about 50 - 60 miles an hour, got back to the marina in 25 minutes....Man that Tracker is one nice machine!!!!!Sunday, met up @ Jerry's around 5:30 am....got everything together and went out to LaSalle....we were in the water and ready to blast off at 7:00 am.....we started out just off the marina and Jerry picked up one on the first or second drift....I had a couple bites but was too slow on the draw....headed up river where Jerry picked up another one, both were around 18-20".....we decided to get over to Amherstburg where I picked that one up the day before.....looked in my jig box and picked out a new Jigman Jig painted in "Superman" colours and purple flaked Munchy plastic....has to be one of the ugliest combo's I could have went with!!! LOL!!! Two minutes later I picked up my first of the day.....then another about an hour later....right after that I snagged up and lost my "go too" jig and didn't have another Munchy in my box....Oh Man I need to buy about 10 bags of those things, they work GREAT!!!!! Looked again in my jig box, picked out a Jigman Jig with pink on it, looked for another really ugly colour....found it!!!!! A yellow and pink twister tail...I forget where the heck I got them but boy are they fugly looking!! LOL!!! another drift and I picked up my last fish and again a half hour later Jerry picked up his last fish.....all were around the 18-20 inch mark, nothing to write home about or too weight in.....we just got the boat out of the water and went to check to see who won.....Eric Hodgkins (sp) tied with another team for first and split first and second money.....Jerry and I hung out with Eric and a couple other teams for a while after and then decided to head home.....
I have to say a HUGE thank you to Jerry (FishTracker)!!!!!! Not only did he put us on fish, but had a great time (as usual) doing it!!! It is really good to go out with a guide every once in awhile even if you have a boat yourself...... you can really hone your skills by watching, listening and learning from guys like Jerry!!!! Again THANK YOU Buddy!!!!
