Got passport?
« on: April 19, 2005, 08:41:47 pm »

The US Home Security Council announced recently that you’ll need a passport to enter the US soon and it’ll be fully phased in by 2008. This even applies to Americans not just non-US residents.

So what does Canada’s Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan do shortly after that announcement? She countered that by saying Americans may also need a passport to enter Canada.

It’s unfortunate but I think it’s necessary. It’s getting tougher and tougher to cross the border and I’m sure this is only the beginning of more restrictions to come.

But hey!!!! I’m ahead of the game. They have already approved the “NEXUS” card and I have mine.

Most fishermen sit at home in the winter, thinking about fishing.  Real fishermen go out and do it.

Fellas...its like this ya need a passport if you go anywhere else in the world...so with some things a bit strained between the USA & Canada not so much between the peoples as is the Gubermint Folks, they have mutualy found a way to make a few more bucks off us tax payers. My Pass Port will cost US $106.00...Bassettes Pass Port is Cdn $87.00 plus double the taxes. So with somewhere around 1.8 million people crossing the Windsor Borders every year whose really benefiting? But its a need if you want to visit either country and I like doing both! Just my outlook on things like Border Security.

All I know is since I've gotten a passport I have had no troubles crossing the border...for years because I have long hair and what they called "look like a biker" I was pulled over 9 out of 10 times...since I got my passport 4 years ago I haven't been stopped once...shoot now that I said that, I'm going to get it again!!  LOL!!!  Even when my wife and I travel in the winter the security @ the airport don't bother me....I was really getting tired of the bend over treatment!!! ':booty1:'   LMAO!!!!!  Even though I do think it's a money grab in this day and age I think it is a necessary evil....

It is a money grab, has nothin to do with terrorism. The legislation was being pushed by Gov. Granholm and the Boyz frm MI legislature.  Where do you think the money is coming from to build that new tunnel or that new bridge they are planning on building from det to windsor.  65% of US/CANADA commerce passes over the bridge, tunnel and railroad tunnel, and Michigan will do anything to increase trade.
