Where is everyone at????
« on: August 29, 2007, 09:25:20 am »

OK, I know I have been really busy over the last couple months with the new position at work and the building of my garage.....but what the heck happened to everyone else on this site?Huh?

I am not seeing any reports, questions, rants, etc. from my Canadian Brothers and Sisters and for that matter anyone that fishes the Canadian side of our lake....What is up with that?Huh?  Come on guys, we have a perfect opportunity to have our OWN site that is for our area....we should be promoting our great resources by reporting catches, new equipment and baits that are hot in our area, etc....

I know that Outlaw has a new type of jointed Woodies that have been hot this year on St. Clair for musky, you can pick them up at R&D Tackle in Belle River, Wally's Baits, and many more bait shops in our area....Wally's Baits have some new tackle that SNAGMAN is testing out, from what I hear he is slaying the smallies with them!!!!  Bakie is still making the best weight forward harnesses that you can buy, they are sold at our local shops as well....

So what else is going on???  Who has a new product???  Who has a new way to catch bass, walleye, musky, etc???  Who has a new rod or reel that they have just tried out???

Let's not let this site go down everyone!!  I really need everyone to step up and start posting since I don't have the time I used to have to keep this portion of the website interesting.....

thanks for listening to my rant.....NOW GET POSTING!!!!!   Grin

Hey brother Chris... Good to see you back and active again.  I think each one of us need to email a few folks that we know and get them to hangout here more.  Seems as everything has been worked out and its been pretty smooth sailing. Plus the site looks real nice too.  Just wish we could get the word out a little more.

As a moderator your trying to generate news and that is a good thing. Now we just need member input.

Myself I don't fish much in August.  Sept. should generate more tips and reports.

YOHO GLFers..... I believe in a short answer to Chrispy's "RANT" its got to do with a lot of little factors becoming lumped into one big one.

1st: The overall view of the economy...with fuel prices being as they are folks just ain't gettin out as much. All the ramps on the river and lake front has either stayed at $10.00 or higher and the ramps are deplorable and in some areas almost too scary to launch a boat.

2nd: The weather man oh man this has been the hottest August on the river and Lake St Clair in a number of years and those Northern-NorthWest-NorthEast winds have been something else. Also this season we have experienced more East winds than anyone can remember. So the lake on the Ontario side has been filled with algae and weeds constantly.

3rd: Back to the Economy the job/workforce situation here in the Essex County area is dipping to levels seen back in the mid seventies and decisions are being made to what is important and can be affordable, if ya can't pay the high prices of hydro-gas-water services ya ain't got a chance for internet services. Lotta stuff on peoples minds here in Windsor area as to wether they should cutbait or fish and a lot of folks are cuttin bait, headin out west to the promise of great things.

(Side Note): The wait times at the Bridge and Tunnel has as well created crossover problems. I have been required to spend more time stateside and within a three week period and almost 7 trips back and forth I have spent a total of 9 hours waiting to cross and thats combined coming and going to both countries. Folks thats a whole day of fishing time! I talked to some folks who been coming here several times a season and this year after one trip has decided to go elsewhere both in Canada and in the USA to avoid the waits.
I am not saying this is the biggest of the factors, but it does get thrown in as a overall problem.

Now I am a moderator or participant in several different websites and since mid season have recieved more than 3 requests per site to jump in and get things rolling as threads where drying up and new threads not being created, so its not something unique to GLF...folks just ain't doing the internet thing right now!

Now that we are heading into fall.....yall get ready cause I am sure H20 and I know the Ol SNAGMAN will have some awesome lake reports.

I don't know why I haven't been coming here but I'm back.  Not much to say because I haven't been out in a while.  But I'll post some stuff soon.

Most fishermen sit at home in the winter, thinking about fishing.  Real fishermen go out and do it.
