Can't Remember who was having engine problems
« on: September 20, 2007, 11:30:25 am »

Just remembered that a few of the guys with older boats have been having problems with power loss and engines running rough. From what we've learned it's the new gas with the ethanol breaking stuff lose in gas tanks and lines and clogging filters and carb jets. All they've been doing is draining water seperators and changing gas filters more often until all the garbage in your fuel system clears up.

You know Bakie, thats a good point you are making there. I never thought that the 10% ethanol blend could cause that much difference.  I figured its blended to the point where it has similar properties and same octane and burns at the same temp.  Never thought about the corrosive properties of ethanol though...

I was one of the people having problems with my motor. Ended up being the fuel pump. Well at least I think it's the fuel pump but I haven't been able to test it out yet.

I read plenty about ethanol being bad for outboard motors.
