What are the ideal troll speeds for different species in the St. Clair River. I will be using a dipsy diver set-up, and I would like to target salmon and trout. I think I heard once 3-5mph? any suggestions?

spring time I slow down try around 2mph to 2.5 - fish less aggressive also try weaving to speed up or slow down outside or inside lines once the weather warms up and the bite starts then speed up to 3-5 these are guidelines I follow but sometimes you need to experiment if bite is off this is on the lake on that river and it's strong currents you might need to experiment even more like drifting etc. always check the action of lure along side boat if it's not performing adjust speed or change

Warmer waters, july/august ideal speed for walleye seems to be 1.0 - 1.5 mph.
