Shore Fishing Locations - Kingsville, Leamington, Colchester, Wheately? Windsor?
« on: April 21, 2008, 09:43:54 pm »

Hey there from Leamington.

I'm a fly fisherman looking for places to toss a few flies.

I've been fishing a cedar creek in Kingsville and managed a few carp, I've waded out the Kingsville Shorelines with no lock... fished the Kingsville dock and hooked up with carp and bass but I'm looking to expand my horizons..

Anyways, I dont mind getting into the water provided undertows and currents aren't too strong.. wonder if anyone has any suggestions for local fishing?

Welcome to GLF Noah. Should get Snagman and Castmaster to chime in soon. They rule in canada.

Welcome to GLF Noah.

Well to start off with I'd suggest trying up on RiverSide Drive at SandPoint Beach east of the City Marina right beside the sandpiles, you can park in the beach parking lot and walk across to the water. You can wade out to the edge of the Detroit river and cast to your hearts desires with no over hangs to worry about. Depending on when you decide to wade out there, you can catch silver bass...walleye...perch...carp...musky.
You are not alone in this area as several waders use this area and its a popular early morning spot as well as late afternoon early evening spot.

From your location driving over to the St Lukes Bay area of St Clair can give you some interesting waters to wade and cast in as there are reeds, weeds and rocks and this area holds smallmouth, largemouth bass and musky and northern pike. Should be able to give yourself a good workout whipping that flyrod!
Hope this helps
Good Luck

 Hey guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I was actually in the waters on Sand Bay beach for the first time this morning.

It was  a little choppy and my first time in these waters so I wasnt sure how far to wade out. I could see the drop off but didnt want to get too deep and drown on my first outing.

Anyways, didnt get any hookups but enjoyed the spot.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.
