I have a Question...??
« on: May 29, 2008, 08:36:17 am »

First and foremost.....My hats goes off to all the peoples that make this board what it is.....Very Impressed!! Good job...

My question is quite easy more curious to see the answers...

What size hooks, and weights do you use for your tube fishing?
Do you change size of hook  vs  size of weight??

My favorite colour is a plum colour in either gold or purple fleck...What's yours?? What size of tube do you gerally use most the time...??

Best of luck on the water...Stay safe..
thx

I generally use a 3/8 oz jig witrh a 3/0 hook, 4" tube in watermelon or green pumpkin with red or gold flake. That's on LSC. If I'm fishing near the deeper water by the mouth of the Detroit River then I go up to a 1/2 oz or 3/4 oz jig. I also like to use jigs with rattles because I notice that I catch bigger fish on average.

Make all your adjustments according to the existing conditions. Size of jigs matched with size of tubes. If your having problems adjust. If it's working leave it. Play with the options and doing that you'll learn what's best.

Squirt Scent inside tube.. shhhh....

Deeper heavier, shallow lighter. Work them slow.

Try 3 inch Berkley Power Grubs in Pearl/White, Pumpkin/Chartruse. on a 1/8 oz. ball head jig. You might be surprised.

I second the green with gold/silver flakes for the tubes. Jig size appropriate to conditions and tube sizes.  Welcome aboard!

Any dark color, black/grey/green/purple is generally a good base color.  I don't pay a whole lot of attention to flakes.  My favorite is a dark green tube.  I go as light as I can, to avoid getting tangle up in the weeds.  Anything up to 12FOW I'll try 1/4 oz as long as the wind permits.  If it's windier, or deeper I move up to a 3/8 and beyond.  But, for the lake, 1/4oz should generally work, and no heavier than 3/8oz.

Most fishermen sit at home in the winter, thinking about fishing.  Real fishermen go out and do it.
