Check out my new rod/reel for musky!!
« on: April 26, 2005, 01:55:26 pm »

Check it out Boys!!!!  It is wicked!!!!  I've never had a reel with a smoother drag system....I set it up with Stren Braid @ 65 pound test and she's ready to fish for the big heavies!!!!

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas....at20166

by the way the reason I know the drag works good is I hooked up to the wife and made her run in the backyard!!!!  Thought I had me a marlin on!!!  LMAO!!!

Yankee, you got it Brother!!!  Like I said so far it's amazing....I'd like to test it more but don't think the wife will fall for it again!!  LOL!!!

Very Nice Set-Up.  I just got two of those combo's for trolling dipsy divers in the st. clair river.  Didn't really consider them for musky fishing, but now I most certainly will.
Nice package
Cheers

Edit: I didn't realize yours had the Cabelas rods, I got ugly sticks with mine.  Are ugly sticks any good?

LMAO Mark!!!!!!

Dazed, nothing wrong with the Ugly Stick, I was going to do the same thing (and still might)....I checked out the price for the reel and then looked it up for the combo....the combo was $10.00 more!!!!!  LOL!!!  I figure if the rod is no good I'll just get myself an Ugly Stick and use the other one as a backup....From what I understand when you buy multiple combo's it is better to keep them all the same...this way you know exactly how the action is on all of them....and you can better read the tip to what it's doing....

Dazed...I got a Ugly Stick (heavy action) works great on trolling for toothy critters and also with the Shakespeare promodel Spinning reel it werks great when casting as well...I got my rods loaded with 20lb fireline! Use a 30 to 50lb flourocarbon hand made leader!

Wow big lanky fish. I remember as a kid living in North Bay before moving to British Columbia there were stories about ppl having their dogs eaten by huge musky, lol.

Took me years and many therapy sessions to enter the water again. ':fish20:'
