Alrighty then...this is a subject and product line that has been beat to death on every website I have ever visited. So I figured I'd see what would come of it here.

I have my opinions and beliefs and I have my test reports on study's between product lines, so I open it to the forum?

Do ya or Don't ya? Have Ya or Haven't Ya? Will Ya or Won't Ya?

Still a good topic SNAGMAN and well worth re-visiting.

Don't know anything about test results but it seems to me that fish are sensitive to scent.....what kind I'm not sure of and I'm not really convinced what's on the market works. Now that you mentioned it, I think I'll give it a try this year. I'll see for myself.

Haven't used scent very much because i don't feel like forking over the cash, but I'm trying it this year.  If I think it works i'll use it, and if I don't I'll save me some money.

I used to be a really heavy smoker....while up north a bunch of us got to talking, the guys that smoked caught fewer fish than the ones that didn't smoke....so I got the idea, I went into my Dad's tackle box got out his trusty bottle of Walleye Scent from Berkleys and before putting worms or minnows on the hook I would wash my hands with the attractant first...not put it on the bait, just washed my hands with it....guess what, it worked!!!!  I was up there with the non smokers...I figure all it did was mask the scent of the cigs....I know it sounds weird but it works!!!

Great responses....I suggest shopping around...and investigating all aspects of scents/attractants. I will start you fellas on one that I use and have used since 1998 it was introduced to the angling market 1997.
When I test other brands I use this one as the foundation of my tests.

You will find that I mention kicknbass a lot in discussions or on fishing adventures. Chrispy if you remember I had the KnB hat on and the patch on my jacket ''
Just a start for yas!

Well Chrispy like I said and always say when out and about...I think the scent/attractant is a tool for the angler in masking contaminants. I believe as well that a scent like KicknBass (Garlic) or the Anise/Shad or the CrawFish gets the fish to hold on to the bait just a tad bit longer for the hook set. Now unless you have fished for LargeMouth Bass up in the shallows using a texas rig or a jig&pig..You won't get a true notice of Scent/Attractants in deepwater fishing unless its on a tuff day bite.
Like I say check out www.kicknbass.com
make your own conclusions..I have done 75-100 bass days on lake st clair without any scents. And then again I have increased the catch ratio on those hard to catch bass days using scents/attractants.
I will stess one thing and that is investigate the product your gonna use..A lot of the scents/attractants today has oil/petroleum based by-products ie if its in a tube and is thick and sticky it may contain petroleum jelly for the thickner, the flecks or the sparkles in the scents are held by aluminum/petroleum content.
Look for those with amino/fish/acid/oils. Read and understand what your putting on your lures and in the waters.
Again this is my opinion on the subject of scents/attractants.

Scents, oh my. To begin with fish smell a million times better than humans. (what else do you have to know) Look how when we smell perfume on a lady we kinda drift over there and start a conversation or just smile till she goes away.lol OK anyways  '' Scents work miracles some times, sure fish are caught without them but wow can they help you out. If you notice alot of follows and no hits put it on and see the differance. I fished for 80 hours when I first started Salmon fishing in Sanilac Harbor a long time ago before I started catching them. See after 80 hours now thats about eight ten hour trips I put chum+rub on my cleo's and started limiting out. Not only do fish hold on longer they smell the lure as they follow from behind provoking the hit. Liquid scents also produce a slime coating on the bait, and heck virtually everything they eat has a slime coating. Scents can be YOUR BEST FRIENDS @ times. fish smell a million times better than humans.
h2o<--scents work!!!!  ':fishie3:'

Thanks Snagman,,  copy that.

h2o<---look how long fish hold powerbait compared to standard plastic's  18-1 that's because of scent.

if you put glue on to keep your soft plastic on does that put a nasty scent in the water?

Hi folks,
Well I might as well add my thoughts on this subject.
I'm a smoker and I firmly believe that using scents/attractants greatly improves my catch ratio.I have tried most on the market today and have gone  back to the scent that I have the most confidence in.I have tried MegaStrike,Bang,Yum,and a few others.
In 2001 I had the opportunity to try Kick"N"Bass, and loved it.Got away from it in 2003 so I could get the stains cleaned up from my boats carpet, lol.I used MegaStrike in 2003 and again last season along with the Aerosol Bang, and the Yum.
Well it's back to Kick"N"Bass in my favourite flavour...Garlic '<img'> Not only do the smallies here in Nova Scotia love it,doesn't taste too bad if you get a little on your sandwich ''  '' Actually when you put this stuff on a tube you have no need to reapply for at least a half hour or until the bait is so beat up you have to replace that.
BTW,most of the Kick"N"Bass stains came out of my carpet with a little elbow grease ':<img:'> Oh and the smallies here still love the taste of the KnB in the garlic flavour...been catching some nice smallies here since April 1st.
