Well I haven't been around much this week, mainly because I been on the Detroit River, chasing those fish for the grease not for release.
Tuesday we started down at LASALLE in front of fighting Island and fished on a drift from the Salt Mines to The Front of the Island and we did pretty well everyone we talked with limited out and the sizes ranged from handle handles to just plain huge fish.
Wednesday found us on the river in front of the LakeView City Marina in Windsor and we stayed on a drift to Solidarity Towers and the fishing was mainly hit and miss. So we moved down to Pillette Park and then we started catching fish on almost every drift. All fish were in the 3 to 4 lb range and really clean. The SmallMouth Bass and Musky were right in there with the walleye and the occassional sheepshead created a lot of excitement and catcalls from other anglers. Again everyone we talked with had their limit.
Today we started at St Rose Bay/Park and set drift to the RCMP Station...all the fish were hammer handles and smaller, with bigger fish being sporadic.
But eventually we all had enough that we returned at noon and had the fish with some chips and some cold pops. Nuttin like fresh caught walleye and chips along with the friendly ribbing and chatter from fellow anglers!
I still have not got out to chase the Big Toothy Critters, but hopefully the weather stays in our favor and the weekend is coming up. Also Bassette says we are chasin them this weekend something about "Mothers Day" perogatives hahahaha!!
I hope everyone can get out and enjoy the weather the fishing and the life of being out on the water. While out there be safe, be cautious and watch out for the OPP and Windsor Marine Div, they are everywhere. They are checking boats thoroughly for proper equipment and proper PFD's.
SO make that mental and physical check before you launch!
