Lakeview Marina Report

Well it was a beautiful day, slight breeze, water was much greener and finally some boat traffic.
OPP were on hand giving an informal inspection of your boat if you desired and gave the ones that passed a decal so they didn't have to be hassled the rest of the year.

Now to fishing, did not see anything on west side of the parking lot breakwall. The marina entry point east point saw lots of smaller fish (the kids called them rock bass) caught on worms, I'd say a couple of dozen caught. I decided to fish the east breakwall into St. Clair and caught a really nice smallmouth bass on a brass colored spinner, I'd say a couple of pounds. Moved up to the north east corner of the marina breakwall and had a few rather large fish chasing my spinners and crankbaits, a few strikes but misses. Lost a few crankbaits because they were a little too deep cranking.

Thats about it, might go try the River Canard area tomorrow or back to the marina.

It just sounded like in his report that he was targeting them.

Off the Break Wall East of Marina in front of Lilly Ka Zillys....using crankbaits and inline spinner baits walleye can be caught, unfortuinately the smallies are in there too.
Good report!

I was actually hoping to find some crappie or a pike, walleye. Bass fishing is not open for a couple of more months here. The larger fish were quite plump so not sure what they were and there were 2 long slender fish going after the lures, quite large looking, but they were quick, the plumper fish were slower.

FYI, my fishing buddies who know me would know how much a stickler I am with regulations so I would not intentionally target species out of season, in fact I have a conservation license as well.

is lakeview the one right by Tim Horton's?  I've never bothered to look at the name, and always thought it was Belle River Marina.

ICE, yes that is the marina, I use to think it was called Belle River marina too.

Chrispy, I did get out there Sunday. Fished for only a short time since those spots were taken I by some bottom fishers so I left shortly. Never saw anything.

Decided to head out towards Stoney Point, more of a drive to see where to fish but most areas have homes and no place that know of fish from over there. Was going to go out to Lasalle to fish at the bridge at River Canard but decided just to head home and relax, it was quite warm.

Yeah too bad you couldn't get out, next weekend is coming though.

I've always wondered about fishing off of that wall, but have never got a report cuz the people who fish off there always speak French.  Is it good all year round?

I'm not sure if it is good all year, I have only lived here since christmas, maybe someone else will know.

I have never been a bottom fisher like those guys/gals, I like to cast and drift fish. I would get very bored just sitting there, trolling on the other hand is fun.

Yeah this weekend for sure Chrispy.
