Power Baits by Berkely
« on: May 11, 2005, 08:23:25 am »

OK Berkely has come out with a new packaged bait that overshadows the regular power minnow. Its the power minnow 400x these things in the bags look and feel so dang real and life like.

I like using the power minnow as a tipper or sweetner when jigging for walleye and also for rigging for panfish.

But I learned one thing about these baits, left on the lure in the open air or if the ziplock bag isn't tight these baits shrivel and dry up. At $5.00 a bag its a real headache if that happens.

I also found out that the "Gulp" baits will do the same thing. I lost a 3 bags over the winter when I stored my lures & plastics the bags of "Gulp" werms was not sealed tight.

When opened fresh and the bag sealed properly these baits are really good..but one mistake with storage and handling of these baits and their gone.

Anyone else experienced this?

Your right about that SNAGMAN!!!  They dry up real fast!!!!  Lost a bag of orange gulp minnows last year....left them in the windshield of the boat, couple hours later I had some hard baits!!!  Should have screwed in a couple eyelets and put some hooks on em, use them as top waters...LOL!!!

By the way, all I kept catching with the damn things were catfish (barbout).....not one walleye....

To Combat them drying up, You'll love this. I transfer all my powerbaits to containers that have screw down tops. and use that. Check out VORTEX you can see the containers I use. Makes it's easier to access also. Just put different colors in baggies to separate the colors this way they don't bleed into each other. Oh the brain storm. lol

Cool!!  Looks easier to lug around than my fishing house (as the wife calls it)....I have the super magnum tackle bag from Cabelas....thing weights as much as I do....not really I would hate to have to carry around 215 pound tackle bag...but you get my drift!!  LOL!!!

Oh I hear that. VORTEX (fishing station) weigh's about 35 lbs loaded. I love it because all I take is vortex, bazooka rod case, thermos, and I'm gone fishing. It was easy to make and not expensive really. I've been told many times to put them into production, the worlds ready for a FISHING STATION.

h2o...Now that is just to SWEET!!! I think Chrispy is right that puppy needs to be marketed for sure!

I see a lot of tinboat anglers and that Fishing Station would be a must for all of them! Even the canoers could use it for those backwater and down river excursions!

Just Flippin Awesome!

SNAGMAN

PS....Thanks for the tip on them screwdowns for the gulp style baits!

Were a team designed to conquer all we can. Brothers of the world of fishing we are. I love learning and teaching all I can. Thank you for the compliment.

h2o<--says can't wait for all of us to meet somewhere. A picnic would be fun @ Kent lake. No boats but shore fishing this way were all together for the day. Boats would defeat the purpose.

Last time we talked about a picnic, we were going to concentrate on july and metro beach.  But kent lake is sounding even better, oh my, amazing carp fishing off shore. Grills right next to the shore, it awesome.  Why don't we aim for the week of June 17th?  Us, oprganizers would probably have to donate $20-30 each ti throw a nice bash. My only problem with kent, is that you can't have any cold ones. On the contrary, i think you can drink at metro.  Not only that, bring a boat out and give kids boat rides. Bring the whole family '<img'>  What do you guys think?
