A tackle question. I have heard lots of good things about this product but having issues with it. Firstly, love the line for its diameter and being invisible but the memory on this line is not getting better.

Spooled 8lb FloroClear on my baitcaster but the line memory is so bad it actually is winding around the tip of my rod when fully retrieved.
I did have someone hold the reel with a pencil to spool it on the reel so I'm wondering if this PLine is crap.

Never in all my years fishing have ever come across this type of line memory no matter how it was spooled on a reel. I was hoping that after uses it would get better but not happening.

that's flouro for ya.  I tried it, and same thing.  I just use it for leaders now.  Save the line, for leaders and switch to fireline.

Never been a fan of Berkleys line of line. Might try Yo-Zuri Hybrid if I can get it locally.

PowerPro line is suppose to solve the problems that berkley lines have.  The only complaint Ive heard is that the line is somewhat noisy.  (H2o's last nights post).

I have only tried the Berkley flouro and HATED IT!!!!  Same thing too much memory and had trouble with it twisting on the tip....somebody told me I might have spooled it upside down???  I took it off and went with PowerPro and Stren braid...I love both of those lines....not a problem since...after a year I am having the same problem with Spider Mono having way too much memory as Qmaze witnessed last weekend with all my PROFESSIONAL birds nests!!!!  LMAO!!!!  I think I'll spool up the baitcasater with PowerPro....

Thanks Chrispy,

Well they say a trick with flourocarbon lines is to either take your spool and soak it in the water since they absorb water or to troll all your line off the spool, no lure, then reel it completely back on your reel.

What I dis was completely unspool the line in the back yard, looked like a damn slinky, then respooled it, will see how that works.

If not will respool it back onto the spool as ICe suggested for leader line and buy something else. I use to use a line called something like AquaClear and it was the nicest mono I ever used. Worked fantastic on all reels, small diameter, abrasive but still supple but I do not think its on the East Coast.

Going to get ahold of my fishing buddies back there and ask them if they can send some down.

Hey check these out for spying on the competition.

Suffix has come out this season with a mono coated line..I bought two spools to test it against Cabelas Pro-Lines...Other than the line color hi-viz yellow seems bright in the 8 lb test it seems to be a good quality line. I have yet to use the 12 lb that I got for flipping docks. So far very little evidence of memory or kinking and its stood up against underwater hazards. Now the Cabela's Pro-Line I'm still out on that stuff so far!.

But with the new improvements in the fireline its still top of my list. Once ya get confidence using it and work out your differences between superlines and mono you'll see a hookset difference.

I use the flouro-stuff for leaders as well.

But make sure it's LEADER material flouro....the stuff you put on your reels are not as nick resistent as the leader material....I still find Seaugar leader flouro hard to find in Windsor....I got a spool in Detroit (30#) and I won a spool of 40 or 50# from Fishful Thinking (Charlie Wray)....I won the Honda Maintenance Tip prize last season....

I tried Fireline when it first came out and man oh man was it not very abrasive, maybe they have worked on the mixture. Mind you I think it was 4lb.

I am really looking for a small diameter line , clear, abrasive but yet still soft and excellent knot strength, no memory. Because of flourocarbons small dia. I might bump to a 10lb to give it bit more strength and weight to help eliminate some of these memory issues. This PLine definately casts nice, that I like. Remember this Floroclear is a copolymer/flouro not a true 100% flouro.

We will see how it goes this weekend, easy to remedy.
Why can't I think like I did as a kid, oh it has line,,perfect lets go fishing..lol

More than likely you had ceramic line guide's FireLine needs eyelets to be medal. It will cut right through ceramic. When I reverse FireLine it's straight. Not much memory on it.  I love FireLine and would give up fishing without it.
h2o<--ask me any Questions you have on no stretch FireLine. Been using it since it came out.

Nope , not at all h2o. I was experiencing the abrasion from catching fish. Every fish caught I had to re tie the lure back on, only trouters too.

The rod had silicone carbide guides. Might have to try it again but I won't jump off the bandwagon just yet. I will will see how this PLine continues to work.

h2o, I am totally incorrect about Fireline. I just came back form looking at that stuff and I have never used that braided style of line. I must be getting mixed with a Berkely mono of some type.

Fireline is not at all what I thought I had used,, now I see why you and ICE recommend it. Supple, braided and super small diameter, looks like really high performance line.

I most likely used a XL or something.
