Captain Crunchies Maiden Voyage
« on: November 05, 2005, 03:10:43 pm »

On a somewhat warm foggy Saturday morning, the silence was broken by the sound of 75hp Merc hangin off the back of an 18 ft Sylvan Pro.
Captain Crunchie along with Qmaze set off from Belle River marina , Timmies in hand and with great anticipation of catching some fish. Even the slight drizzle was not going to stop this maiden voyage. With calm waters and a slight breeze we headed north towards the hump. Because the fog was starting to get a bit thicker we decided to stay within view of the south shore.
In around 15 ft of water we casted for some muskie then switched over for some bassin.
No luck casting we decided to troll a bit along the south shore into Deerbrook. Although we didn't get a bite, it was very clear that Cap'n Crunchie had got himself one hell of a good rig, from the purr of the motor, all the gadgets and the smooth ride this was one boat that will make lots of great fishing memories.
Thanks again for the invite Chrispy, had a good time and for a first time boat owner you did a good job launching and bringing it back in safely.

you had a great day to go out today.  You need a GPS to combat the fog issue.

Thanks Buddy!!!  I had a great time too!!  The only thing missing was the fish....that Merc does sound good eh??  SNAGMAN, you were missed by the both of us...would have been fun to hear ya making fun of me while watching the livewell fill up!!  LMAO!!!!  I'm still amazed how well everything went...Man this spring is going to be AWESOME!!!!!

I think I'm going to put the boat away for the winter...figure since I'm not a well seasoned boater I don't want to take any chances when the water and weather is so unpredictable in the late fall months....she will be ready for the first week of April though!!!!!

Thanks again for coming out with me Qmaze you were a great help!!!

Oh and I think when I start a tackle company I'm calling it Capt. Crunchies Tackle!!  LOL!!!

LOL!!!  Thanks Cuz!!!  Was going to go out of the City Marina and decided to go out to Belle River instead...should have stayed in the river, oh well...no fish marked at all out on the Hump or closer to shore....would have made the run to Lighthouse Cove but the wind picked up and we decided to pack it up....until I have a real feel for the boat I'm not taking any chances on having to run through rough weather....

I'm still hoping to get out a couple more times this year with the guy that I bought the boat from....he just bought a 21' Tracker Tundra Pro Walleye boat....all I can say is it is AWESOME!!!!!  He sent me pics of her....what a rig!!!!  Told him to take good care of her and I'll buy it off of him when he wants another!!  LOL!!!!  The guy really took good care of my boat that's for sure....

I'm pretty sure it's 17 gallons....I ran the boat all out for 20-30 minutes and it didn't move the gas gauge....also ran the 4 stroke for an hour and a half and again, the gas gauge didn't move....I've been in boats were you could actually see the gauge move when you put the throttle down.....

Hey Buddy!!!  If I knew how to get them ready for winter I would leave them for another month....I just don't want to get caught with a big freeze and the motors paying the price for a couple more times out...I am planning on learning to do it for next year so I can put the boat away when the ramp freezes instead of putting it away with big heavies around....the other thing is I have been too busy renovating the kitchen, dining room and living room....I got lucky the other day to get out of the house with the wifes blessing!!!  LMAO!!!!
