Always Fishing

Although the annual walleye run is winding to a close, there are still a number of males sticking around. These fish can be caught through out the day with jig-n-minnow combinations, but the best action is during low light periods, casting shad raps and floating raps in shallow areas. It's a small window, but you can usually pick up a few fish just before dark. White bass are making their way up the river now and the action should pick up as soon as the weather stabilizes and temps get back into the upper 60's to low 70's. Jigs, or Wolf River rigs, tipped with live minnows are a good bet, but I prefer to cast small traps or shad raps in any kind of silver pattern. Pumping or twitching these baits can produce some fantastic action once you find a school of fish. Until next time...Cross their eyes!

I can anchor and catch White Bass all day long. Those scrapy fish are a blast. They get big to. The weather will be awhile before 60+70 return, Most likely after May 5th. darn it. Good advice AF.
