My dad worked for western union after WWII. Decided the farm wasn't what he wanted all his life. I guess I followed him as I went in the USAF instead of going to the farms.
Anyway Dad later worked the railroad as a cablesplicer which was then the New York Central. It later became the Penn Central when the Pennsylvania and New York Central combined.
My dad was working in the Pulaski, NY area when I got on a train and used the family railroad pass and visited him for the weekend.
The salmon river runs thru Pulaski and on into Lake Ontario. We rented a boat and fished the bay where the salmon river runs into the lake at a place called Port Ontario.
We fished for awhile and caught a few small fish. Then I hooked something big. We findly got it up to the boat and got a good look at it after I tired it out. My dad told me it was a northern pike and that was a great fish I had hooked and reeled in all by myself. My dad then released the fish. We sat in the boat awhile and talked and watched the sunset out on the lake.
I hadn't thought about this in many many years. Wish I'd remembered it when my Dad was alive.
I guess being in the forum brings back nice old memories of the past.
This is a good thing!
