Went panfishing with my buddy Rick, who is the  campground owner of Clam Falls Campground. We hit the lake pretty hard this week for gills and crappies.I have to say it was a pretty good week with a dandy 10 1/2-inch bullgill caught and released.Boy what a fight that was.Found the pattern for bluegills. They are in the backwater areas in full swing fall patterns.Find the weedline and catch loads of them.Find a corner and catch crappies.Lilly pads are also big attractors for all panfish including perch. We caught lotsa quality sized fish. The biggest perch caught was a 11 incher!
All in all,it was great to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life......!

Most fishermen sit at home in the winter, thinking about fishing.  Real fishermen go out and do it.

Yeah we kept a few for tablefare. We only usually keep the smaller ones and let them biggens grow.I'll keep the big 5's and 6's and let the larger ones go.I like to find lakes that have bullgills in them. They are our hidden gems of yesteryears.Right h2o?Remember those years when everything was big...or so it seemed...!?

I got a really awesome recipe for crappies or gills.Let me know if you want one....?

Right CrappieMagnet I can anchor and shore fish all day panfishin. Love it.
My favorite bait is WaxWorms. I buy them by the carton 250 to a carton that's the only way and most economical. Good report, fall is a great fishing time and you can always find a protected shoreline.

10/8/05 Report

ErleWrm,his daughter Ariel and I went camping and fishing this past weekend and we taught his daughter how to fish. Her first time out!Although she could'nt quite get the hang of fishing with a spincast reel.she still had fun.We ended up catching lotsa bluegill, pumpkinseeds, and crappies. We even managed to pull in a few LM bass.Saturday night was a bit chilly with temps hovering just below freezing.Dang....too cold.I still want to fish a few more weeks!

So with fall fishing in full swing....be sure to get out! With cold temps...the panfish are all migrating into the back bays and channels....seeking out warmer water temps.Even the slightest degree in temps will draw them. The bigger fish were near the deeper channel dropoffs, but the majority of the fish were in waters less than 3 feet deep.....!
