Todd had about 4 or 5 flags go up but when we got there no one was home. Some were probably just the sucker setting it off but at least 2 of them had to be a strike just from the amount of line that went out. At about 1:30 my tip-up finally went off & ended up with a 29 ˝” pike (biggest I’ve caught in that lake). 10 minutes later my flag goes off again & ends up being a decent size LM (see video). After I got back to my hole the bass started hitting hard again & a nice school of perch (6”-7”) showed up & we got a few of them.
The plan was to leave at 2:00 but lost track of time & at 2:20 decided to call it quits. After packing up the rods & chairs we headed over to our tip-ups & on the way Todd’s goes off but when we get there, nothing. We get that tip-up packed up & then my tip-up goes off & she’s peeling off line like crazy. I pull the line in only to find a hook full of weeds.
It was hard to leave when the action was getting hot (other guys were scoring as well) but since we plan to fish LSC on Monday & I didn’t want to piss the wife off too much. The day started off cloudy & foggy but ended with mostly sunny. There were about 16 guys (most I’ve ever seen out there) fishing near us & a few shanties on the other end of the lake. Ice varied from 7” to about 9”. Minnows took most fish in 6 to 7.5 fow. Tip-up fish came on 4” to 6” suckers 3 to 3.5 feet down.
Pike just shy of 24"

29.5" Pike

BTW, Todd started off talking it up saying he was starting the new year off right by whooping my but fishing but I put him in his place.
I ended up with the species, biggest fish, & #'s. He got the first. He jinxes himself every time he starts to razz me like that.
