"LANSING -- Lawmakers in the state House and Senate unveiled a bipartisan plan Thursday to add a voluntary $10 charge to annual motor vehicle registration fees and dedicate the added revenue from that to maintenance and improvements at state and local parks, boat launches and recreation areas." http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090312/METRO/903120442/1050/rss19 An open letter to our michigan politicians: Dear Gov and Legislature. For pete's sake, please realize that the state's ever declining population is not a mammary gland that you can squeeze, producing milk every time. Enough with damn taxes and fees. We know times are tough and revenues are in the crapper. We also know you voted yourselves a pay decrease - effective when most of you leave office. WTF kind of political stunt is that? It's almost as sick as blue cross wasting 500 million or radio and TV ads bi^&ching about unfair competition and how they are almost out of business due to out of state insurance companies... Oh, by the way Gov., is your husband still on the board of directors at BCBC? Sweet gig that must be. Taxpayer subsidies pay for all kinds of crap nowdays I hear. Sen. Patricia Birkholz who is a republican (yes, not only democrats can be dumb) along with Rebekah Warren of Ann Arbor need to realize that the sate has been bled dry by taxes and combined with highest unemployment in the nation, the last damn thing businesses andindividuals need to be doing is paying more taxes. In fact, adopt the Nevada approach. Cut taxes, and watch business flourish. QUIT NICKEL AND DIMING THE POPULATION TO DEATH!!!! But most important of all, get a bloody clue instead of shafting your constituance with yet another fee!
